Employees of Murphy-Wall State Bank and Trust Company’s Pinckneyville office present a $1,000 donation to Christina Brand, president of Pinckneyville’s Optimist Club. The Optimist Club was selected by the branch’s employees as a recipient of their collected “Jean Day” funds. Employees that choose to participate in “Jean Day” elect to have a small donation deducted from each of their paychecks to be able to wear jeans to work on Fridays. The collected funds are pooled together and then donated to select organizations that are voted on by participating employees for disbursement throughout the year.
Optimist Clubs promote and engage in community service work. Every club raises its funds and independently selects service initiatives aimed at enhancing the well-being of children.
