Murphy-Wall State Bank Announces Madelynn Hutchcraft and Layla Yates as December 2024 Students of the Month

Murphy-Wall State Bank and Trust Company would like to congratulate Madelynn Hutchcraft and Layla Yates on earning the honor of being the Murphy-Wall Students of the Month for December in 2024!

After high school, Madelynn plans to attend The University of Alabama to obtain her bachelor’s degree in marketing. Madelynn will have a nice head start in obtaining her college degree from taking advantage of dual credit courses through the Rend Lake Junior College Extension. Madelynn has participated in many extracurriculars during high school such as Volleyball, Student Council, and serving as Class President for all four years of high school.

After high school, Layla plans on receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at The University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. Ultimately, Layla would like to study hard, as well as indulge in the culture and atmosphere of college life! Layla has enjoyed participating in several extracurricular activities throughout her high school career such as Dance/Pompon, Softball, Beta Club, and Student Council.

About the Award

PCHS Seniors were given the opportunity to apply for the Murphy-Wall State Bank PCHS Student of the Month and President’s Scholar honor at the beginning of the school year.  Students were asked to submit up to a 500-word essay in application of this honor.  Out of nineteen applicants, twelve students will receive the honor of Student of the Month and $50. One of these twelve students will receive the honor of Student of the Year and a $1000 scholarship, and one will receive the honor of President’s Scholar and a $1000 scholarship. View Previous Student of the Month Seniors.
